THANK YOU FOR VISITING
AZ GHOST TOWN STAGE
Our passion is Arizona's rich Old West
history. Since 1990 our family has enjoyed Ghost Town hunting
around this great State. We enjoy blending together some of the history of
the area and the tales of the sometimes rough and tumble characters who once lived
there. The focus of our passion lies primarily in the mid to late 1800's
and the early 1900's when many of these old towns first flourished and later
turned into Ghost Towns. Cavalry Forts dotted the desert to keep Indian
tribes at bay as well as attempt to establish some sort of order in a lawless
territory. John Butterfield's Overland Mail Stage Coach route passed
through the heart of the Arizona desert on its way from St Louis to the Pacific
Ocean. Other Stage Coach routes, Teamsters Wagon roads, Railroads, Pony
Express stops, Telegraph lines and the like began connecting one place to
another most often in their very primitive forms.
Our passion for Arizona's
earlier history also includes, to a lesser degree, Ancient Indian Ruins as well as the
Spanish influence of the mid 1500's and thereafter.

Most of Arizona became part of the New
Mexico Territory in 1850. The portion south of the Gila (hee-lah) River
remained under Mexican control for about another thirteen years when Arizona, as we know
it today, became the Arizona Territory in 1863. On February 14, 1912,
still a Frontier Territory, Arizona was granted statehood as the 48th State.
Because of her rugged country, formidable harsh desert conditions and lack
of a superstructure Arizona escaped modernization for several years to come.
Many
of the '49ers passed through this rugged territory on their way to the
California Gold Rush even before Arizona was made part of the New Mexico
Territory. Several stayed behind when they found silver, gold or copper.
Some of these families became Arizona's first settlers. Towns
sprang up and the tales of the lawless Territory were soon as numerous as the
outlaws and colorful law-abiding citizens who lived in them.

Welcome to Arizona Ghost Town Stage Line
where "We bring Arizona's Old West history to life". We invite you to
browse through the following pages of our site. It would be our privilege
to take you and your family and friends into the back country where settlers
settled and towns sprang up and died. Come on a tour with us and see where
they lived, worked and played as it remains today.
No, our vehicles are not Stagecoaches but
are modern 4-wheel drive Air Conditioned vehicles like the Jeep Liberty or the
Dodge Durango, for instance.

Well, it's time to
